Gracie Jiu Jitsu

AMAC is a proud affiliate of the
Pedro Sauer Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Association

The AMAC KIDS Jiu-Jitsu program is based on our adult Gracie (Brazilian) Jiu-Jitsu program. AMAC KIDS Jiu-Jitsu is primarily a ground-fighting art. Jiu-Jitsu involves standing self defense against punching, kicking and teaches how to escape from common grabs and attacks. In general, most techniques involve students on the ground where it is most effective.

AMAC KIDS Jiu-Jitsu is a highly effective self-defense system designed to allow a smaller, weaker person to defend his or her self against someone larger. It is also a lot of fun! The kids love it, and it keeps them very active as they improve their strength, flexibility and coordination.

Kids Jiu-Jitsu is outstanding for physical fitness and they will love doing it.

16 percent of children (over 9 million) 6-19 years old are overweight or obese - a number that has tripled since 1980. (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention)

Over the past decades, the childhood obesity rate has more than doubled for preschool children and adolescents 6 to 19 years of age. (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention)

According to a national study, 92 percent of elementary schools do not provide daily physical education classes for all students throughout the school year. (School Health Policies and Programs Study. Journal of School Health 2001:71[7])

Physical activity has been associated with increased academic performance, improved self-concept, mood, and mental health. The promotion of physical activity and exercise may also improve quality of life. (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention)

Jeet Kune Do

The AMAC Young Adult Jeet Kune Do/Personal Defensive Systems (JKD/PDS) Program is based on out adult program. We cover the same principles and techniques covered in the adult program only at a pace designed for the young adult.

PDS/JKD takes the best the martial art world has to offer in the area of self-defense and combines it all into one simple, easy-to-learn, highly-effective system. Every range of self defense is covered - kicking, kneeing, striking, trapping, joint locks, grappling, blunt (stick) weapons.

We often refer to the JKD/PDS program as the University of Martial arts at our school, it will research other disciplines in search of the most effective principles and techniques that make them effective then bring it into their class of study in order to better educate and improve the skill of the students.

The Atlanta Martial Arts Center is a proud affiliate of the Inosanto International Martial Arts Instructors Association under Sifu Dan Inosanto, one of the senior students of Bruce Lee. AMAC is one of the few schools in the area certified to teach the art and science of Jun Fan Gung Fu (Jeet Kune Do).

Come by and try out a class today to see for yourself why JKD is one of the most effective self defense arts around.
